XM's Two Separate Passwords — Which One Did You Forget?

The most important thing to understand is that XM uses two completely independent passwords for two different systems. Many traders waste time trying to use the wrong password in the wrong place. Identify which one you need before following the reset steps below.

🌐
Members Area Password

Used to log into my.xm.com — deposits, withdrawals, KYC, account settings

Reset via email link from XM login page
📊
MT4/MT5 Trading Password

Used to log into MetaTrader 4 or 5 — placing trades, viewing positions

Reset via Members Area → Account Management
👁️
Investor (Read-Only) Password

View-only access in MT4/MT5 — cannot place or modify trades

Reset via Members Area → Account Management

📌 Quick Decision — Which Password Do You Need?

  • Can't log into my.xm.com website? → You forgot your 회원 영역 비밀번호 → follow Section 2 below
  • Can log into the website but can't connect MT4/MT5? → You forgot your trading account password → follow Section 3 below
  • MT4 says "Invalid account"? → Either wrong trading password OR wrong account number — check both

How to Reset Your XM Members Area Password — Step-by-Step Email Reset Process

The Members Area password reset takes under 2 minutes and is done entirely through email — no support contact needed.

1
Go to my.xm.com and click "Forgot Password"
Open your browser and go to my.xm.com. On the login page, click the "Forgot Password?" ...이건 또 "Reset Password" link — it appears below the password field.
2
Enter your registered email address and submit
Enter the exact email address you used when registering your XM account. Even one wrong character means the reset email will not be sent. If unsure of which email, check your inbox for any previous XM emails — the sending address is always from @xm.com.
3
Check your email inbox — including spam folder
XM sends the reset link immediately. Check your primary inbox first, then your spam/junk folder — XM reset emails frequently land in spam. The subject line typically reads "Password Reset Request" or similar. The link expires after a set time (usually 1 hour) — use it promptly.
4
Click the reset link and set your new password
Click the link in the email — it opens a secure page. Enter your new password twice. Password requirements: minimum 8 characters, mix of uppercase and lowercase letters plus at least one number. Avoid using your account number or email as your password.
5
Log into my.xm.com with your new password
Return to my.xm.com and log in with your email and new password. The change takes effect immediately — no waiting required. Your MT4/MT5 trading password is unaffected.
Save your password this time: Use your browser's password manager or a dedicated password app to save your XM Members Area credentials. This prevents the same issue in the future and takes 5 seconds when prompted.

How to Reset Your XM MT4/MT5 Trading Account Password — No Email Required

The trading account password is not reset via email — it is changed directly through the Members Area. You need to be able to log into my.xm.com first. If you also forgot your Members Area password, reset that first using Section 2 above.

1
Log into my.xm.com with your Members Area password
Use your email and Members Area password to log in. If you cannot log in, reset the Members Area password first (Section 2).
2
Go to Account Management and select your trading account
From the dashboard, navigate to Account Management. If you have multiple accounts, select the specific trading account (identified by its 8-digit number) whose password you want to change.
3
Click "Change Trading Password" and enter your new password
Find the Change Trading Password option. Enter your new trading password twice. Password requirements are the same — minimum 8 characters with letters and numbers. This changes the Master password used to trade. The Investor (read-only) password is separate and unchanged.
4
Log into MT4/MT5 with your new trading password
Open MT4 or MT5 → 파일 → 거래 계정에 로그인 → enter your 8-digit account number, new password, and select the correct server (XMGlobal-Real 1 for most traders). The new password works immediately.
중요: If MT4/MT5 still shows "Invalid Account" after changing the password, wait 2–3 minutes before trying again — the new password takes a moment to propagate to XM's trading servers. Also confirm you selected the correct server. See our MT4/MT5 login guide for the full server list.

XM Password Reset Email Not Arriving — 5 Fixes to Try Right Now

If the reset email has not arrived after a few minutes, work through these fixes in order:

  1. Check spam/junk folder first — XM reset emails are frequently filtered by email providers. Look for an email from any @xm.com address.
  2. Wait 5–10 minutes — email delivery is sometimes delayed by mail server congestion. Refresh your inbox after waiting.
  3. Verify the email address — ensure you entered the exact email used during XM registration. Search your email inbox for any previous XM email to confirm which address is registered.
  4. Request the reset again — go back to the password reset page and submit a second request. Sometimes the first request fails silently.
  5. Contact XM live chat — open XM's website and use live chat. Provide your registered email address and account number. The support team can verify your identity and send a new reset link or change your password directly.
If you no longer have access to your registered email address (account deleted, domain expired, or email lost), you cannot complete the standard reset process. In this case, contact XM live chat immediately and explain the situation. You will need to provide alternative identity verification — typically your account number, registered name, and KYC documents — for XM's compliance team to update your email and reset access.

Forgot Your XM Trading Account Number — How to Find Your 8-Digit Account Number

Your XM trading account number (8-digit number) is required to log into MT4/MT5. It is different from your email and Members Area login. Here is where to find it:

🔍 3 Ways to Find Your XM Account Number

  • Members Area (easiest): Log into my.xm.com → Account Management → your account number is displayed prominently next to each account
  • Original welcome email: Search your email inbox for "XM" or "Trading Account Details" — the account creation email contains your number
  • XM live chat: Provide your registered email and identity verification — support can confirm your account number within minutes

XM Investor Password — What It Is and When You Need to Change It

The investor password provides read-only access to your trading account — it allows viewing of positions and history in MT4/MT5 but cannot place, modify, or close trades. It is primarily used in copy trading arrangements where strategy providers need view access without trading control.

To change the investor password: log into Members Area → Account Management → select your account → Change Investor Password. The investor password is fully independent of both your Members Area password and your Master trading password.

✅ Summary — XM's Three Passwords and How to Reset Each

  • Members Area password: Reset via "Forgot Password" on my.xm.com login page → email reset link
  • MT4/MT5 Master (trading) password: Change via Members Area → Account Management → Change Trading Password
  • MT4/MT5 Investor (read-only) password: Change via Members Area → Account Management → Change Investor Password
